congratulations to memberS of the Month: Ellen Gabel and Peter Frayne
(Ellen) What better way to satiate my love of travel and be a part of a great group of people.
(Peter) There are so many beautiful places to see around the World, and running marathons is a great way to see them!
How many marathons have you run?
(Ellen) Since I was a young girl, I had this fascination with Antarctica...then I met my wonderful husband there... (Yes, that's Peter!)
(Peter) Antarctica was a dream destination of jaw dropping beauty, with a unique running environment on the most remote of the seven continents to explore with an unrivalled camaraderie amongst runners and staff. Meeting my future wife made this trip my favorite lifetime experience.
(Ellen)Having the opportunity to be a part of the running community...we have gone to some amazing places and have returned with wonderful memories and lifetime friends.
(Peter) It's rewarding to achieve a running goal knowing that you have trained hard for it. And to celebrate in new places around the World and meet so many inspiring and fun people is a highlight of any trip.
What word would you use to describe yourself?
What words of advice would you give to someone who is training for their first marathon?
(Ellen) It's all about setting your goal and achieving it to the best of your ability. You may not be the fastest runner, but what counts is your journey to get to the finish line.
(Peter) Be patient with your training and build up slowly. You will get out of the marathon what you put into it. The main objective is to finish, regardless of time, and that in itself is a great achievement.
